The CaravanSerai was a roadside inn where travellers (caravaners) could rest and recover from the day's journey. Caravanserai supported the flow of commerce, information and people across Asia, North Africa and Southeast Europe (including Greece), most notably the Silk Road. The origin of the work comes from combining the Persian words Kārvān (Caravan) with Sarāy (Palace). The idea is that CJ Jeff and Goncalo are moving from one CaravanSerai to the next, traveling the Old Silk Road and spreading good music, with residencies in Ibiza like Las Dalias Cafe, Mykonos and upcoming to Dubai - East to West.

The Silk Road, like most trade routes back in the day, wasn’t so much about making the safest choices, but rather about exploration and connecting the Old World with the many new worlds, then unknown to men. In the same fashion, the concept of CaravanSerai is not so much about CJ Jeff and Goncalo bringing their show to town, as an isolated event, but more about breaking boundaries and creating new connections between artists in different places. An important part of the concept is to build the relationships with local promoters and artists, thus creating stronger connection between “the travellers” (CJ Jeff and Goncalo) and the local community and talent.

We feel this concept has potential for growth and a lot of depth as several themes can be explored along the way :
- The oxymoron of the caravan palace - Connecting East and West - Linking the concept of the Silk Road to fashion.
